Report of a Quality Audit of CityU (Second Audit Cycle)

Dear Colleagues, Students, Council members, Convocation members and Alumni,

I am delighted to report that the high quality of CityU’s professional education has once again been affirmed by the Quality Assurance Council (QAC) of the University Grants Committee in its Report of a Quality Audit of City University of Hong Kong released today. The report recognises the University’s significant and enduring quality enhancements since the last audit in 2010.

The QAC report explicitly commended the University’s signature Discovery-enriched Curriculum (DEC), our academic blueprint for student-centric innovation and creativity at CityU. The QAC recognized the success of this path-breaking approach to discovery- and innovation-oriented education in contributing to the enhancement of students’ learning experience.

The report confirmed CityU’s achievements in professional education. It also commends the University’s carefully-nuanced graduate attributes which emphasise clear differentiation across levels of study. We are also encouraged by the QAC’s commendation for CityU’s network of student services, which provides proactive and flexible support in enhancing students’ learning experience as well as global engagements.

Our success is a direct result of the concerted effort and dedication of all members of the University, including our faculty, staff, students, alumni, Convocation, Council Chair and members, and external stakeholders. I particularly want to thank all the units and participants who contributed to the preparation or took part in this vigorous audit exercise.

Committed to the pursuit of academic excellence through continuous quality enhancement, we will take the QAC’s recommendations for quality enhancement very seriously.  We will continue to strengthen the integration of education and research and deepen discovery and innovation in professional education to enhance our students’ capability to meet the challenges of a fast-changing world.
