In memory of Professor John Nash and Mrs Alicia Nash
Dear colleagues, students and alumni,
We were deeply saddened to hear that the great mathematician Professor John Nash and his wife Alicia were killed in a car crash last week in the US. We would like to offer our deepest condolences to his family on behalf of the entire CityU community.
Professor Nash was a mathematical genius. He contributed immensely to the development of game theory and established the foundation for modern economics. His discovery, known as the “Nash Equilibrium”, moved game theory to a new plane, and has influenced a vast array of disciplines, from political science and psychology to sociology and evolutionary biology, among many others. He was awarded the Nobel Prize in Economics in 1994 in recognition of his achievements.
Professor Nash was an immensely valuable member of the CityU community. He was a recipient of a CityU Honorary Doctor of Science award in 2011.
He and Alicia will be greatly missed and our heartfelt sympathies are with his family and friends at this difficult time.

悼念約翰‧納殊教授夫婦
各位同事、同學、校友：
驚悉偉大數學家約翰‧納殊教授夫婦上周於美國因車禍不幸去世，深感難過。謹代表城大同人向其家人致以深切慰問。
納殊教授是數學天才，對博弈論的發展影響深遠，並奠定了現代經濟學基礎。他的「納殊均衡點」把博弈論提高到另一個境界，不但為數學和經濟學樹立新範例，影響更及於政治科學、心理學、社會學、進化生物學等範疇。其傑出成就，使他贏得1994年的諾貝爾經濟學獎。
納殊教授2011年獲得城大的榮譽理學博士學位，是城大社群備受尊崇的一員。
我們將永懷納殊教授夫婦，並願其親友節哀順變。
