Donation for Endowment Fund for School of Veterinary Medicine

I am pleased to announce that the University has received a generous donation from Dr Li Dak-sum, an acclaimed business leader in the Hong Kong community, to establish an endowment fund to support the development of the School of Veterinary Medicine (SVM).

Dr Li Dak-sum, a successful entrepreneur and highly respected philanthropist, has donated HK$100 million to City University of Hong Kong (CityU) for setting up the “Li Dak Sum and Yip Yio Chin Development Fund for Veterinary Medicine”.

CityU established the SVM in collaboration with the College of Veterinary Medicine of Cornell University in March 2014.  Dr Li’s generous contribution is a valuable gift to support the University’s commitment and efforts to build a veterinary school of world standing to enhance public health and food safety in Asia.

On behalf of the University, I would like to take this opportunity to express our sincere gratitude to Dr Li for his generosity and for embracing the University’s vision to build a centre of excellence in veterinary education and research to promote One Health and the quality of life in the region.

捐款設置動物醫學院發展基金

我很高興向大家宣佈，大學獲得香港商界翹楚李達三博士的慷慨捐款，設置動物醫學院發展基金。

李達三博士是成功企業家，也是備受尊崇的慈善家。他向香港城市大學（城大）捐贈港幣一億元，成立「李達三葉耀珍動物醫學發展基金」。

城大於2014年3月與康奈爾大學獸醫學院合作，成立動物醫學院。李博士的捐助，是饋贈大學的一份厚禮，支持城大在亞洲建立一所世界級的動物醫學院，提升公共健康及食物安全水平。

我謹代表大學同人向李博士的慷慨捐助表達由衷謝意，也感謝李博士認同城大創建卓越動物醫學教育及研究中心的願景，在區內推動「健康一元化」(One Health) ，改善生活質素。
