Update on School of Veterinary Medicine

Dear Colleagues, Students, and Alumni,

Noting recent media reports relating to our proposed School of Veterinary Medicine, we would like to take this opportunity to provide you with an update.

Back in 2012, the University Council unanimously approved CityU’s revised submission to the University Grants Committee (UGC) for the establishment of a School of Veterinary Medicine at its meeting held on 22 November of that year.

The Executive Committee of the Council, at its meeting on 20 January 2014, was informed of the recent report of the UGC Task Force set up to consider CityU’s proposal. The Executive Committee was also informed about the Senate Resolution passed on 14 January 2014, and the response proposed by CityU’s management regarding the Task Force report.

The Executive Committee gave support to the management’s response, noting that the details of any new proposals would be brought to the full Council's attention at its next meeting.

We thank the Executive Committee for its support. The University would also like to express our appreciation to the different sectors of the community for their generous support and strong encouragement to continue pursuing our vision for the welfare of Hong Kong society and the region.

「動物醫學院」最新進展報告 

各位同事、同學及校友：

關於大學籌建中的動物醫學院，我們注意到近期在傳媒上的一些報道，就此在這裡向大家報告一些最新進展。

在2012年11月 22日的會議中，校董會一致通過城大再次向大學教育資助委員會（教資會）遞交建議書，申請成立動物醫學院。

校董會轄下行政委員會在2014年1月 20日舉行的會議中獲知教資會工作小組有關城大建議書的報告，委員會亦同時獲知城大教務會在2014年1月 14日會議中的決議，以及城大管理層就教資會報告建議的回應。

行政委員會支持管理層的回應，並表示如有新建議書，將會於下次校董會全體會議中審議其內容。

我們感謝行政委員會給予的支持，並對社會各界的慷慨支持表示讚賞，同時鼓勵大家繼續為香港社會及鄰近地區的福祉盡心竭力。
