Security issues regarding the Grand Opening of AC3

Dear colleagues and students,

In response to media reports regarding the Opening Ceremony of AC3, we would like to state that City University of Hong Kong is within its rights, and is duty bound, to ensure that guests attending any of its events are safe and undisturbed, and that the dignity of the occasion and that of the University itself should remain unsullied.

The University regrets the unpleasantness that marred the event on Monday. We will continue to rope off areas where peaceful demonstrations are permitted to take place, and we will ensure that security personnel are briefed to move away demonstrators only when there is a clear threat to people’s safety.

學術樓（三）開幕典禮的保安事宜

各位同事、同學：

就傳媒報道有關學術樓（三）開幕典禮事宜，校方有以下補充：

校方認為城大有責任在其能力範圍內，保障出席大學活動所有賓客的安全、免受干擾，並確保典禮莊嚴地進行，不受影響。

校方對於周一發生的不愉快事件表示遺憾。校方會繼續劃出容許進行和平示威的地點，亦會向保安人員清楚講解，只在有可能危及人身安全的情況下，才可將示威人士移走。
