Convocation SC Stories - June 2011 2011-06-01

Eddie has this gift for his alma mater: passion. To repay CityU for what he has experienced and accomplished during his schooldays, Eddie, a young man full of ideals, aspires to devote himself for the betterment of the alma mater. Joining the Standing Committee of the Convocation is a platform for him to realise his ideals.

Eddie is proud of the excellence in education of CityU. He says the social contribution of CityU is equally important. To promote the image of the University at the societal level, he believes it relies on the concerted efforts of the University, students and alumni. He encourages alumni to support the University in diverse ways, particularly using their wisdom and experience to elevate the alma mater to another level.

As an active student leader, Eddie was already enthusiastic about the University and social affairs. As an undergrad, he encouraged fellow students to express their views through community work and social action such as using survey to gauge views of students and demonstration.

The liberal environment of the University was an eye-opener for him and made him understand more about the plights of the grass roots, which was a driving force for him to join the disciplined services upon graduation.

Now an alumni leader, Eddie’s passion for the University has not been blunted, and he believes there are many different ways for him to contribute to the University.

Over the past year, Eddie has joined various alumni activities. He also involved in organising the “Reunion for Ex-SU Leaders” and the “Alumni Summer Camp”. Both activities successfully united alumni to reminisce their university experiences and foster their affiliation with the alma mater.
