Dear Convocation members,
We were overwhelmed with grief over the past few days when we learnt that our alumnus Mr Fu Cheuk-yan was among the victims who unfortunately lost his life in the recent Manila bus siege. To enable alumni to give their condolences and support to Fu’s families including his wife and two young children, and families of other hijacked victims, a mourning page has been set up on Convocation Homepage and Facebook (http://www.facebook.com/convocation.cityu). We shall deliver your messages of support to them.
Last but not least, we hope the HKSAR government to continue urging the Philippines government to conduct a thorough and transparent investigation of the incident.
Convocation of City University of Hong Kong
Dear CityU alumni, students and colleagues, It is with our deepest sorrow and sadness to inform you that our alumnus, Mr Fu Cheuk-yan, was among the Manila hijacked victims. Mr Fu, a graduate of the HD Business Studies (1997), was the husband of the tragedy’s survivor who was released with her two own children, and helped save another kid. Mr Fu, who worked at the CCB International (Holdings), was known as a model husband and father. We are in touch with his elder brother Daniel, who is also our alumnus, to convey our sympathy and offer necessary assistance. Please join us in extending our deepest condolences to Fu’s family, and all the families and friends of the deceased and injured of the tragic event.
