Convocation Chairman Miss Karmen Chan, also in her capacity as a Panel member of the AC3 Opening Ceremony Review Group, is pleased to see that the University has accepted the report submitted by the AC3 Review Group and will set up an inter-departmental working group to follow up on the recommendations put forward.
The Review Group was set up on 12 May to review the logistics, operations and security arrangements of the AC3 Opening Ceremony held on 6 May 2013. Under the Chairmanship of Professor Ray Yep, members of the Review Group had carried out an exhaustive review on the incident and completed its entire process after two months. The Review Group presented a total of 13 recommendations in the report for improvement.
Karmen is highly impressed by the enormous effort of all the panel members, whom are congenial and professional, for their relentless determination to carry out an impartial evaluation. She is confident that the University will continue to maintain its objective stance and uphold freedom of expression in future.
She also extended her sincere gratitude to the students, alumni and all parties who have offered feedback to the Review Group. Their concerted support is indispensable for ensuring a smooth review process. As Convocation Chairman, Karmen also thanked the University for inviting her to serve on the Panel, thus the views of the alumni can be put forward to the Review Group.
The Convocation is dedicated to connecting alumni with the University and encouraging them to continuously show concern to their alma mater for better development of the University.
