Convocation joins forces with Students’ Union, University caterer and Campus Development and Facilities Office to support "Cutting Food-waste Campaign"
The Convocation has been committed to enhancing the eco-consciousness of the CityU community. Apart from updating green tips at the Convocation homepage regularly, the Convocation has also made considerable efforts to support the reducing food waste campaign of the University. Representative of the Convocation has conveyed ideas on cutting food waste with the students Union, CDFO and caterer.
With the joint efforts of the University, the student canteens and staff restaurants have introduced flexible food portions, while the western restaurant City Top has stopped serving the buffet salad bar and the Chinese Restaurant has created six low-carbon dishes.
It is also of our delight that the University has been collaborating with a recycling agent since August to process food waste into fish feed. This measure has the benefit of reusing food resources through recycling and minimising the amount of food waste dumped into Hong Kong’s limited space.
